OUR VISION AND AIMS

Linking Lives UK exists to reduce social isolation and loneliness, with a particular focus on older people. This is achieved by working in partnership with churches and Christian organisations to set up befriending projects. We currently have core models and these are home visiting * and telephone befriending. This contact and engagement has a significant impact on all those involved, including volunteers who engage in activities.

*Currently suspended due to Covid-19 and replaced with regular telephone calls.

HOME VISITING

Our home visiting model has been operating across the UK since 2012 and provides a way for churches and Christian organisiations to establish befriending projects within their communities in which volunteers visit older people once a week for 1-2 hours. This contact provides much needed interaction and enables wider engagement with events and activities which may be of interest within the community.

**The development of new projects using this model is currently suspended due to Covid-19 and will restart when it is safe and permitted to do so**

TELEPHONE BEFRIENDING

Our telephone befriending model can be set up and used locally by churches in their community. Two’s Company can be set up quickly, easily and safely and each project requires a coordinator, freephone telephone number, and volunteers. Training is provided by video conference call to coordinators, and then cascaded to volunteers on a local level. To request a Publicity Leaflet, please click on the link below.
