We were very grateful to have been approached by a team at Opus Energy last year, who were wanting to raise money through sponsored events this year, to address loneliness and social isolation among older people. They discovered Linking Lives UK and kindly offered for the proceeds to be put towards our work across the UK.
The main event was a Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to be held on Saturday 15th June 2019. A team of four took on the challenge, which involved going out on a number of practise walks before the main event in June. Athana Leeson from Opus Energy explained that,
‘There were definitely highs and lows! I would say never underestimate the peaks. It was tough but rewarding. We managed to keep smiling and laughing which got us through. The Team were amazing!’
So far, the challenge has raised £700 towards the work of Linking Lives UK and we would like to thank all those who took part as well as those who generously donated to the event. There is still time to donate towards the events and this can be done through the Virgin Money Giving Page
