The role of a volunteer within Linking Lives is to carry out a regular home visit to an allocated friend usually for between one and two hours every week or two weeks. These visits are often a lifeline for those who are unable to leave their home very often, and who have little contact with others in the community.
The majority of our volunteers report that they have an extremely positive experience within their role and that they benefit from their regular visits as much as their allocated friend. We are keen to build on this mutual benefit, and encourage all volunteers to look for opportunities to celebrate and honour the achievements and experiences of older people.
If you would like to apply to become a Linking Lives volunteer locally, please get in touch with us.
You will be asked to provide two references, attend an informal interview with our coordinator and provide a Criminal Records Check. We carry out regular reviews of arrangements once regular visits commence to ensure that all aspects are working well. If, for any reason, the match is not suitable we will make alternative arrangements and keep everyone informed.
