Did you hear about our 2020 conference? 28th March
We regret that our Annual Conference has now had to be postponed due to Covid-19. We will let you know when we are able to reschedule.
The theme of this year’s Annual Conference is ‘Realising and Releasing Potential in Older People’. We have some inspiring speakers, updates on latest developments in the work of Linking Lives UK, practical workshops and great networking opportunities!
Our main speaker is Rev. Canon James Woodward who is the Principal of Sarum College in Wiltshire. Has career has focussed on areas of health and healing, old age, the practice of theological reflection, and end of life care. In thirty years of ministerial experience James has worked in a range of contexts, including health care chaplaincy and rural ministry and he has written various books including ‘Valuing Age: Mission and Ministry among Older People’.
We will also be joined by Jo Bagby who is the Project Support for Community Regeneration at Birmingham Diocese. Her specific role focuses on supporting churches to engage with older people in innovative and effective ways.
We will be running workshops on the following subjects:
- Key skills in befriending people with dementia
- Engaging effectively with those experiencing sight loss
- Collecting data and measuring outcomes
- Gathering and celebrating ‘good news’ stories
- Understanding local and regional health organisations
- Effective recruitment of employed coordinators
- Dealing with complex issues
- Prayer space
The event will be free to representatives from our existing partner projects. Others with an interest in setting up a befriending project through Linking Lives UK can apply for one of 30 free tickets by emailing [email protected] to obtain a registration code.
For others attending the event, there will be a charge of £15.00
