Are you up for a challenge?!

02.10.2019

Linking Lives UK will soon be launching a challenge which aims to raise awareness of the reality of loneliness and social isolation for many people, whilst also raising funds for the work of our charity across the UK.

The Loneliness Lock-In aims to achieve similar outcomes to homelessness sleep-outs, which enable those taking part to really get a sense (albeit for one night) of the challenges of sleeping on the streets. The Loneliness Lock-In will equally provide an opportunity (in part) to understand and appreciate the way in which social isolation can have such a debilitating effect on the lives of many people.

Those engaging in the challenge will spend up to 24 hours on their own, with no access to gadgets, telephones or wifi (except in an emergency). We provide a Resource Pack containing ideas of activities to try, along with guidelines and information about raising funds through sponsorship.

The Loneliness Lock-In will be launched on Monday 7th October and there will be an initial focused campaign to raise awareness of the challenge for two weeks. The deadline to complete individual challenges will be 30th November. Further details along with information about registering can be found here.

We encourage you to engage with this challenge by taking part, and passing details on to friends or family who may be interested. If you are unable to take part yourself, however, there will be an opportunity for you to either donate directly to the campaign, or to sponsor others who are taking part.
